VICTORY, well steps towards it anyway!

I have a secret not many of you may know about me. I may have packed it up and lived in Afghanistan, but I am a closet scardey cat. I have these funny little things that scare me and one of the biggest is my fear of riding bikes! I can count on three fingers the amount of times I've gotten on one since I was 10 years old. It terrifies me, it bruises my bum, I hate it. Apparently this is my year to start facing my fears and we have decided to do family bikes for Christmas... since we found a good deal this weekend, Christmas came early for me. Being outdoors and doing things together as a family is important to us. We live so close to a fantastic river trail, it would be ridiculous for us to not spend some time on it as the kids get older, also I can hardly tell Laila to go outside and ride her bike if I refuse to get on one myself. I went on my first bike ride in about 20 years last night and I have to say it's wasn't that bad. I'm still pretty much going to stay in areas where there aren't too many people till I get more comfortable, but already I'm picturing the baby seat we just bought attached to the back and peddling down the road on a warm sunny day. I'm determined to overcome it and if I can get over my bike riding fear, (which don't laugh is a pretty big one for me) then watch out other fears.....you're next....like swimming in the deep ocean...wait, I might need counseling before that one.

Good thing Mark was with me in the bike shop, the only thing I really cared about was what color it was, thankfully he knows a thing or two more than I do. Oh, it's silver and white with pretty pink flowers of course.

Looks like so much fun. I stink at riding a bike, but have dabbled with the idea of family bikes because it just seems so wholesome and family funnish.

Have you seen those little trailers you can pull behind for kids? It's screened. Dan & Carolyn used to have one and they used it all the time when they had little ones. You might check it out.
